West Bromwich Albion supporters have been reacting to the performance of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone during the Baggies’ 1-1 draw at Barnsley on Boing Day.

The point extend West Brom’s unbeaten run to 14 Championship matches and saw them maintain their three point lead over Leeds United at the top of the Championship table, but the Baggies could have taken all three points with only a 90th minute equaliser from Aapo Halme cancelling out Filip Krovinovic’s fifth minute opener.

However, Slaven Bilic’s side produced an uncharacteristically lacklustre performance for most of the contest, with the hosts having more of the possession and creating the better chances in front of goal in the final third.

That meant the Baggies were in need of a strong performance from Johnstone in goal to help protect their early lead, and the keeper was in excellent form pulling off a number of important saves especially during the second half.

The pick of the bunch was Johnstone’s excellent save to deny Jacob Brown’s volley from levelling the contest, with the keeper making a flying save to keep the Baggies on course for three points, before he was finally beaten in the last minute by Halme.

Johnstone has been instrumental to the Baggies unbeaten run, with the keeper always offering a real reliable presence between the sticks and helping to keep the opposition at bay when they are putting West Brom under pressure, and he was again at his best at Barnelsy.
