Derby County have had their fair share of signings that arrived with high hopes, and there was one that has lived up to that weight of expectation since their arrival.

In the summer of 2017, the club confirmed the signing of highly-rated midfielder, Tom Lawrence on a long-term-deal from Leicester City.

See how Derby supporters reacted to Lawrence's arrival at the time on Twitter below.

Lawrence has been hugely impressive in his loan spell with Ipswich Town in the previous season and he scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for the Tractor Boys.

This loan spell prompted Derby to make their move for him in the summer, and he arrived with a hefty price tag attached to his name.

BBC Sport reported that the deal between Derby and Leicester was in the region of £5m and it's clear to see why.

The Welshman has established himself as one of the best wingers in the Championship, and has been impressive under the guidance of Frank Lampard this season.

He has struggled with injuries at times in this year's campaign, which has meant Lawrence has been restricted to just 21 league starts which will be frustrating for the Derby supporters.

The former Manchester United youngster couldn't have asked for a better start to the season though, as he netted the winner against Reading on the opening day of this year's campaign.

The 25-year-old has played his part in their push for a top six finish though and has five goals and an assist to his name this season.

He featured on 44 occasions for the Rams last season and will be keen to make up for lost time this season, with Frank Lampard's side currently sat 7th in the Championship table.

They are just two points adrift of the play-off places and Lawrence will be hoping he can play a starring role as they target a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
