Brighton and Hove Albion are searching for a new manager after the shock dismissal of Chris Hughton after the conclusion over their season.

It had previously been reported by The Argus, that Swansea boss, Graham Potter was one of the frontrunners to take over at the Premier League club after an impressive season with the Swans.

But according to BBC Sport, Swansea have offered Potter a new contract, in an attempt to deter any interest from the Seagulls in the summer.

Potter's rise through the managerial ladder is there for all to see, with the 43-year-old adjusting well to the Championship after moving from Swedish side, Osterunds FK.

Swansea will be desperate to keep hold of Potter at the club, even though any deal for Brighton to land him would come with a compensation package for the Swans.

But they'll be keen to retain his services heading into next season, with Potter showing promising signs since the turn of the year.

It's certainly not going to be the last we hear of rumours linking Potter with the vacancy at Brighton, and it will be interesting to see what the outcome of him being offered a new deal at Swansea will be.

The Verdict:

I'm not surprised by this at all.

Swansea really started to look like a team who could beat anyone on their day towards the end of this year's campaign, and that was largely down to Potter.

He's a manager with a bright future ahead of him, and Swansea will do well to keep hold of him at the club heading into next season.
