Premier League side Brighton are hoping to make a move for Wigan Athletic midfielder Nick Powell this summer, according to the Sun on Sunday, print edition, Sunday 4th March.

However, the Seagulls face competition from Championship promotion chasers Aston Villa, with manager Steve Bruce keen on signing the former Man United man as he looks to add to his squad over the summer regardless of which league they are in.

Powell has been in fine form this season for the Latics, being one of the standout players and finally getting his career on track after a trouble few seasons following a big move to Manchester United from Crewe just a few seasons back.

Spells with Hull and Leicester City did nothing to ignite his career, and it is only since completing the permanent move to the DW that he has begun to find his feet.

Wigan are hoping to win promotion back to the Championship this term, but a bid in the region of £5m is being prepared by both the chasing clubs, meaning the Latics owners will be hard pushed not to sell their prized asset in the summer.

Villa and Wigan fans, what do you think to this? How good can Powell be? Let us know in the comments!
