According to a report by The Express, Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens is on the radar of Scottish Premier League side Celtic with a January move potentially on the cards.
Dale Stephens is out of contract next summer and it might be a case of Brighton having to sell him in the winter window or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
Stephens handed in a transfer request last summer, citing the chance to play in the Premier League as his reason for doing so, and he has also stalled on a new contract.
With Brighton second in the Championship table, Chris Hughton’s side are in a good position to win promotion to the top flight but Stephens is yet to sign on the dotted line as a precaution.
The 26-year-old is a central midfielder who is very tidy and composed in possession; his impressive performances in the middle of the park were a big contributing factor to Brighton’s success last year.
Stephens has formed good partnerships with whoever he plays with, be that Steve Sidwell, Beram Kayal or Oliver Norwood.
Burnley had several bids for Stephens turned down in the summer and could rival Celtic to his signature again in January but the prospect of silverware and Champions League football might sway Stephens.
