Brighton and Hove Albion are edging towards promotion but they will not be taking anything for granted ahead of the run-in.

With eight games remaining, they currently sit in second place and are extremely well positioned to clinch promotion.

But after the heartbreak of last season, where goal difference agonisingly separated them from an automatic promotion spot, Brighton and Chris Hughton know that they must knuckle down and get the job done.

Only once they are promoted will Brighton start thinking about the 2017/18 campaign in the Premier League - which would be their first season in the top flight during the Premier League era.

Hughton will have to start lining up some summer targets when that happens and he could look to snap up some free transfers.

Here are 2 current Premier League players who will be out of contract in the summer and available for Brighton to poach for free.

Arouna Kone

Brighton might need more options up front if they go up.

Everton's Arouna Kone would not necessarily be a starter for Brighton but he is certainly a useful, experienced forward to be able to rotate with Glenn Murray, Sam Baldock and Tomer Hemed.

The 33-year-old can score goals and is available for a free in the summer.

Glen Johnson

Brighton might look to sign a right back to compete with veteran Bruno.

Glen Johnson would be a good option as his contract with Stoke is due to run out soon.

The former England international has vast experience in the top flight - which is something that Brighton will be crying out for if they go up.
