After a flying start to the season, Brighton currently sit 2nd in The Sky Bet Championship, just three points behind leaders Newcastle.

The Seagulls seem to be recovering well from last season's play-off heartbreak.

After missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of last season at the hands of Middlesbrough, and then again in the play-offs where they were beaten by Sheffield Wednesday, many wondered whether Brighton could regroup and go again this season.

Chris Hughton will be looking for reinforcements in January and maybe even another inspired signing similar to Anthony Knockaert last season, who proved key for Brighton.

One place Brighton could get players from is Arsenal.

They have a plethora of talent in their youth ranks that they are looking to loan out to gain first team experience.

Young, hungry players could be exactly what Brighton need to get promotion this season.

Here, I will look at 2 players who Brighton could sign from Arsenal...

Chuba Akpom

Akpom has joined Hull City

Akpom was on loan at Hull City last year, featuring 36 times, in what turned out to be a successful loan spell.

He only scored three goals whilst there, but this wasn't a fair reflection of his performances, as he deserved more goals than he got.

One problem with Akpom last season was his attitude, but Chris Hughton is great at working one to one with players and he could get his attitude in order, which would bring the best out of him.

Akpom was recently called up to the England-u21 squad for the European qualifier against Norway.

However, he is unlikely to feature regularly at Arsenal, so Brighton could sign him permanently.

Hughton will be keen to reinforce his attacking options in January for a final push towards promotion.

Gedion Zelalem

Gedion Zelalem

Zelalem spent last season in Scotland, playing for Rangers in what was a successful loan spell and he helped Rangers win the Scottish Championship title.

He did well whilst there, playing some very good football in a successful side.

At just 19, Zelalem has a maturity beyond his age and he can play defensive midfield too, so he brings versatility to the midfield area.

Zelalem possesses great quality on the ball and if he could be successful at Brighton, he could slot straight into the Arsenal team.

The USA under-23 international would suit Brighton's style of play as he can retain possession well and is a box-to-box midfielder.

Playing alongside the right person, he could be very successful.

Hughton will want to pack out his midfield ahead of the run-in in case they have an injury crisis as that could be costly for them.
