Brighton and Hove Albion are on the verge of appointing Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement as their new manager, after bookies slashed his odds and made him the favourite for the job.
Clement, 42, was made the favourite to take over the reigns at the Amex last night after he made comments on his desire to break into management.
The former Republic of Ireland coach is currently assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid and played a key role as Los Blancos won to the Champions League title last night.
Clement has previously been assistant to Ancelotti at Chelsea and PSG, and has also had coaching roles at Fulham and Blackburn Rovers. His experience in working with the world’s best players is thought to be a deciding factor in Brighton’s interest.
However, Clement is also the favourite for the vacant managerial post at West Bromwich Albion, after Pepe Mel’s tenure at The Hawthorns was cut short upon the completion of the Premier League season. Clement will be a very sought-after man in the next few weeks and will have some tough decisions to make.
