Brighton and Hove Albion’s Glenn Murray has admitted it wasn’t his side’s afternoon when they suffered defeat to Leeds United on Saturday, reports the club’s official website.

Chris Hughton’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Leeds at Elland Road, with Chris Wood’s brace enough to secure victory for the Whites.

Murray missed two glorious chances shortly after Wood had given Leeds the lead, pulling a shot wide of Rob Green’s post, before firing straight at the former England goalkeeper.

Reflecting on the defeat, Murray remained positive, he told seagulls.co.uk: “Maybe it wasn’t our afternoon, but we take heart from the results around us. It’s one less game and we’re in the same position.

“That’s where the more experienced players come in and especially the gaffer, to remind us of that. That’s what it’s all about and it’ll be like that until the very end.”

Despite a disappointing defeat for Hughton’s side, they remained six-points ahead of Huddersfield Town, after their surprise defeat to Bristol City on Friday evening, and fell just a point behind Newcastle United, who were held to a goalless draw by Birmingham City.

The Seagulls are back in league action after the international break, when they face clashes with struggling Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham.
