Veteran midfielder Steve Sidwell has said that Brighton and Hove Albion are not even thinking about the Premier League just yet.

Instead, the team is completely focused on securing the Sky Bet Championship title on the weekend, reports The Argus.

Since Brighton clinched promotion two weeks ago, they have lost consecutive games against Norwich City and Bristol City, leaving their title hopes fragile.

Ahead of the final game, they still have the advantage over Newcastle United, leading the Magpies by one point.

Brighton can confirm the title if they beat Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday or if they can better the result of Newcastle United, who host Barnsley at St James' Park.

Steve Sidwell is insisting that Brighton will be purely focused on the weekend's match and trying to secure the top spot before they start their preparations for the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

Central midfielder Steve Sidwell said:

“Some people are saying we got promoted too early with three games to go.

"But I don’t think so, there is no sense of that in the camp.

“We are not talking about Premier League at the moment, our celebrations have been and gone.

"We get three bites at the cherry and we will need the third one.”
