Brighton and Hove Albion are closing in on a deal to bring Swansea boss, Graham Potter to the club in the near future according to The Argus.

The report claims that the Seagulls have made Potter their number one target to replace Chris Hughton at the Amex Stadium, and that they are closing in on talks.

It had previously been reported by BBC Sport that Swansea had turned down an approach for Potter, but it seems as though the Seagulls have made a breakthrough in their efforts to appoint him.

The Premier League club evidently haven't wasted anytime in find Chris Hughton's successor, after the former Brighton boss was dismissed from the managerial post, despite keeping them in the Premier League for another season.

Potter has been impressive in his first spell in English football, and lead Swansea to a 10th placed finish this season in the Championship.

The Swans have been on an impressive run of form recently and they would have been eager to keep him at the club for next year's campaign.

It remains to be seen as to whether there are any truth in this latest report, but it seems highly unlikely that Potter will turn down a move to England's top-flight in the summer.

The Verdict:

It's good to see them making a breakthrough in talks with Potter.

They obviously think that he is the right man to take charge of the club for next year's campaign, and they seem to be doing everything they can do get him in.

He'll be a big loss for Swansea, especially given that he hasn't been there very long.
