Brighton and Hove Albion are leading Sheffield Wednesday in the race to sign Blackburn Rovers winger Ben Marshall, Shoot understands.

After the move to sign Sheffield United winger Jamie Murphy is now looking unlikely, Seagulls boss Chris Hughton has turned his attention to Marshall.

Sheffield Wednesday are also very keen to sign their former loanee but they are behind Brighton in the race to sign the 24-year-old reports Shoot.

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is determined to keep hold of Marshall as a result of the tricky conditions they find themselves in after being place under a transfer embargo for breaking financial fair play rules.

Marshall would be an exceptional signing for any Championship side after making 47 appearances for Rovers last season scoring six goals and making eight assists.
