Brighton are keeping tabs on Portland Timbers defender Liam Ridgewell to provide cover for their defence, reprts the Argus.
The Seagulls have had a terrific start to the campaign but they have suffered a number of defensive injuries in the last few weeks, leaving them short at centre-back and left-back.
Ridgewell, who manager Chris Hughton worked with at Birmingham City, is capable of playing in both positions and could move back to England on a temporary basis as the MLS season is finished.
The former Aston Villa and Birmingham defender has a wealth of experience available to him in Premier League and would provide them with an experienced head at the back.
Following his departure from West Bromwich Albion, he moved to America seeking a new challenge and has impressed since his arrival.
Should Ridgewell move to the AMEX Stadium, it would more than likely be a three month loan deal so he is available for the start of the MLS season.
