Brighton and Hove Albion set to receive a huge boost ahead of Premier League campaign

According to the Mail Online, Brighton and Hove Albion are set to offer David Stockdale a contract extension to ward off Premier League interest in the goalkeeper.

Premier League leaders Chelsea were keen to take Stockdale to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, and West Ham United are also touting a move for the 31-year old.

However, Stockdale looks set to remain loyal to Brighton, who he achieved promotion from the Sky Bet Championship with over the Easter period.

The goalkeeper has missed just one Championship fixture for Chris Hughton’s side this season, keeping 21 clean sheets along the way.

Brighton are just three-points away from securing the Championship title, but failed to confirm their status as Champions in their last fixture, which ended in a 2-0 defeat to Norwich City.

Stockdale was particularly unlucky in that game, scoring two own-goals.

Hughton’s side face Bristol City and Aston Villa in their remaining two fixtures of the Championship season, where Stockdale and his teammates will be looking to return to winning ways and secure the title.

Brighton fans… Are you pleased to hear that Stockdale is likely to remain at the Amex Stadium? Let us know in the comments!
