Brighton and Hove Albion captain, Bruno, has signed a 12-month contract extension with the club, confirms the club’s official website.
The right-back’s current deal was set to run out at the end of the season, but fresh terms have been agreed, which will see Bruno’s contract run until the summer of 2018.
The 36-year old has been influential in Brighton’s push for promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season, featuring on 35 occasions, and helping the Seagulls to 19 clean-sheets.
Commenting on his captain’s new deal, Chris Hughton told seagulls.co.uk: “Bruno has earned his extension. He has played almost every league game and sets a great example on and off the pitch. He has been a model professional and has been a great player to work with.”
Bruno was part of the Brighton side that defeated Derby County 3-0 on Friday evening, which combined with Newcastle United’s defeat to Fulham, has left Hughton’s side level on points with the Magpies at the top of the Championship table.
Hughton’s side face Leeds United on Saturday, where they will be looking keep up with the pace in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
