Marcos Painter joined Brighton and Hove Albion as something of an unknown quantity from Swansea City and would go on to become an important member of the South Coast club's squad. 

Signed in January 2010, Painter joined on an initial loan before being snapped up on a two year deal during July of that year.

He would go on to become a regular for the Seagulls, forming a key part of the team which would go on to lift the League One title by 95 points as they progressed up to the Championship.

After making 100 appearances exactly for Brighton, in between being briefly loaned out to Bournemouth, Painter was released from his contract in the summer of 2013 and would go on to move to another part of the South Coast.

League Two side Portsmouth signed him up on a short term contract and he quickly racked up 18 appearances for the Fratton Park club during what would be his only season with the side.

The Solihull born defender went a long way in his career after breaking through as a youngster at Birmingham City and is quite rightly held in high regard by Brighton fans to this day for his role in that League One title win and is sure to be a welcome visitor to the AMEX over the next few years as they continue to go from strength to strength.
