Speaking to Brighton and Hove Albion’s official website, Chris Hughton has insisted his side will be taking it one game at a time, as the race for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship picks up pace.

Brighton are currently second in the table, trailing leaders Newcastle United by one-point, but six ahead of third-placed Huddersfield Town, leaving themselves in a good position for automatic promotion.

With eight fixtures of the season remaining, Brighton face a hectic schedule over the next three weeks, playing six times.

Despite a busy schedule looming, Hughton insisted he was only focused on the visit of Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, he said: “If we look at the next six games, there won't be much full-squad training. It’s going to be about playing games, recovering and making sure that for the ones that don’t play, we keep their levels up.

“We play Saturday-Tuesday-Friday and the turnaround is quick. We then do that in the next group of games as well, we play Friday-Monday-Friday.

“It’s going to be about the first one, because you can play all you want for the second, third or fourth game, but the most important one at this moment is Saturday’s game against Blackburn."

Hughton will be hopeful his side can return to winning ways when struggling Blackburn visit the Amex Stadium at the weekend, after the Seagulls suffered a disappointing defeat to Leeds United prior to the international break.
