According to The Express, Championship duo Brighton and Preston are battling for the signature of Premier League legend Robbie Keane, who is looking for a new club after leaving LA Galaxy.
Keane is 36 now, and one of few players with over 100 Premier League goals and is regarded as one of the most lethal strikers in the league’s history scoring bagfuls for Leeds, Liverpool and Tottenham.
With 68 goals he is also the record goalscorer for the Republic of Ireland and he’s won many individual awards including Tottenham Player of the Year on three occasions.
Most recently in the USA he has played for LA Galaxy scoring over 100 goals for them in just 5 seasons, winning the coveted MVP award in 2014 and regularly making Team of the Season.
But he’s not retired yet and Brighton want to add him to their ranks as they chase automatic promotion, whilst play-off chasing Preston could also do with a goalscorer.
It’s understood that Keane’s former club Leeds also want him as his experience would be crucial and he is still a very good player.
