Wigan have been linked with a move for a defender throughout the transfer window, with Reading's Liam Moore also interesting Chris Hughton.
However, it is Burn who now looks to have sealed a move to the Amex Stadium, with the move expected to be confirmed today.
6ft 7in Burn played a vital role in helping Wigan win League One last season, playing 45 games and scoring five times as they returned to the second-tier at the first attempt.
He made his name playing for non-league Darlington, becoming the subject of a £350,000 bid from the Cottagers after just ten National League games for the Quakers in 2010/11.
He secured a free transfer to Wigan upon expiry of his Fulham deal, despite enjoying a loan spells with Birmingham City and Yeovil in League One.
The Verdict
This is a great signing for Brighton, Burn has proved himself to be a commanding presence at both ends of the field and his game is about so much more than just being tall.
The price looks reasonable too, but can Wigan now find a replacement in time? 5pm is getting ever closer.
