Reading are struggling towards the bottom end of the Championship and need goals to push up the table.

The Royals failed to win promotion last year after a stunning campaign that saw them finish third in the Championship table, ending the season with a play-off final defeat to Huddersfield Town keeping them in England's second tier.

The Madejski Stadium faithful were expecting another push for promotion this season, after heavy spending from the club's owners, and it's fair to say they've been massively disappointed.

Jaap Stam's side are really struggling to score goals and tried desperately to bring in a striker over the summer, but failed to do so, and with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson failing to fit the billing, a centre forward will undoubtedly be targeted when the window opens in January.

Here are TWO strikers for Brian Tevreden, the technical director at the Berkshire club needs to start looking at before the window opens....

Patrick Bamford

Patrick Bamford won Championship player of the season with Middlesbrough in 2015/16, during their promotion campaign, scoring 17 goals whilst on loan from Chelsea.

He made his return to Teeside permanently in January, but the arrivals of Britt Assombalonga and Martin Braithwaite amongst Boro's other impressive attacking options has seen him struggle for games.

He's started four games so far this year, and a move from Reading would be an incredibly smart move from the Royals, as Bamford is a player who not only has a finishing touch, but is an all round good footballer, which helps with the system they employ.

Leonardo Ulloa

An incredibly ambitious move for any Championship side, but Reading's summer activities have shown how much money they have to spend, and they could prize the Argentine away from Leicester.

After requesting a transfer in January after a failed move to Alaves, he then signed a new contract over the summer but has still failed to make a Premier League appearance this year.

Ulloa would be a serious upgrade on Yann Kermorgant, who fired the Royals to third place last year, and would be a real statement of intent from the club.
