Brentford boss Thomas Frank has claimed Sheffield Wednesday are "extremely good going forward on their day" ahead of the clash between the two sides at Griffin Park on Saturday.

Frank's men will be eyeing up the visit of the Owls as an ideal time to put an end to their five-game winless run.

Brentford have not won in nearly a month, a run that has seen their hopes of automatic promotion fade away almost entirely.

The Bees have dropped to fifth in the Championship, 11 points behind second-placed Leeds United and just three points above Bristol City in seventh.

They face a visit from a Wednesday side that have been in torrid form in recent months, winning just once in their last nine games.

The Owls beat Brentford in the reverse tie at Hillsborough and, speaking ahead of the game on Saturday, Frank highlighted the dangers they pose.

He said (via the club's official Twitter account): "They are extremely good going forward on their day. They have a lot of variety, they produce a lot of crosses and attack with two strikers and the opposite winger. They get a lot of players in the box, so we need to defend the box well."

A win for the Bees could see them move above Nottingham Forest into fourth.

The Verdict

This is an interesting claim from Frank, who is clearly not going to underestimate the Owls despite their drop-off over the last few months.

The reverse tie, in which a Steven Fletcher brace proved the difference, will likely be playing on the Danish coach's mind.

In addition to Fletcher, the likes of Barry Bannan, Kadeem Harris, Connor Wickham, and Adam Reach can cause some real issues in the final third.

Brentford are at risk of falling out of the top six if they do not get back to winning ways soon.

They remain one of the frontrunners to make the play-offs but with just 10 games left of the season, it's vital they rediscover their form sooner rather than later.
