Brentford secured their third consecutive victory on Monday evening with a 3-1 success over local rivals QPR at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

Thomas Frank's sealed the impressive victory courtesy of an Ollie Watkins brace and Said Benrahma's penalty as they continued to build on recent victories over Millwall and Swansea after a mixed start to the season.

The Bees squad underwent a number of changes over the summer as established names such as Neal Maupay, Yoann Barbet and Daniel Bentley all departed Griffin Park, while the likes of Pontus Jansson, Bryan Mbeumo and David Raya arrived at the club.

It has understandably taken some time for the Brentford squad to adapt to these changes, but the latest run of results suggest that Frank's squad is now settled and ready to improve on last season's performance by challenging for the play-offs.

The win over QPR was a clear statement of Brentford's intent this season as they made the short trip across West London to overcome Mark Warburton's side, who have made a solid start to their respective campaign.

There were a number of clear stand-out performances such as those of Watkins and Benrahma in attack, while the defence also needed to perform well against a lively QPR attack with Raya making a number of strong saves on the night.

This is not the first time the former Blackburn man has delivered a fine showing for the Bees since his summer move from Blackburn, and his form between the sticks already appears to have justified the Bees' decision to sign him over the summer.

It would have been a difficult decision to allow Bentley to leave the club after the 26-year-old had spent the last three seasons as the number-one goalkeeper, but his patchy form last term suggested it was time for a change.

Raya has immediately entered the starting line-up following his move from Blackburn, and it is clear to see the reliable presence he offers between the sticks, as he is a strong shot-stopper and also looks comfortable when claiming crosses.

It is also noticeable that his distribution is continuing to improve as he builds more experience in this Brentford side, and it is evident that the Bees defenders feel assured knowing they have Raya backing them up.

The fact Bentley has made a strong start to life at Ashton Gate may suggest that Brentford regret letting him leave, but it had reached the point where a change was needed, and Raya is making sure there are not many Bees supporters mourning Bentley's departure.
