David Raya has proved an impressive signing by Brentford.

Joining from Blackburn Rovers in the summer, Raya has continued to prove that he's one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship. He's been a crucial part of the Brentford side that look set to seal a top-six spot, and he too is raring to get back to the action.

As players prepare for a return to training this week, Raya shared this update on his Instagram:

Having conceded 33 goals in 37 Championship games this season, Raya is the man behind the league's 2nd best defensive record - Leeds have conceded 30 in the Championship this season.

The Spaniard is a contemporary keeper in that he's comfortable to play the ball around the back. He's also a fine shot-stopper and a commander of his box, complementing the likes of fellow summer arrival Pontus Jansson.

Those two, combined with an already sturdy defence at Griffin Park have helped transform the club into Premier League contenders, and with the Brentford Community Stadium due to see it's first fixture earlier than expected, the Bees have it all to play for.

With ten points separating them from 2nd-place West Brom, it looks as though Thomas Frank's side will have to settle for a play-off spot.

But there's still 27 points left to play for and given this unprecedented break, who knows how each team will perform in the final few games of the season?

The verdict

Brentford have proved many pundits wrong this season by challenging at the top for as long as they have. Frank has his side playing some of the neatest football in the league, and it'd be no surprise if they're playing Premier League football next season.
