Brentford and West Brom have joined the race to sign Preston midfielder Ben Pearson, according to the Daily Mail.

Pearson's future at Deepdale is up in the air, with the midfielder's contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has been offered a new and improved deal by Preston, but the midfielder is yet to agree fresh terms with his contract running down.

Pearson has been a key player for North End over the last few years, and despite his fiery nature on the pitch, his performances have alerted interest.

Plenty of interest has emerged in Pearson due to his contract situation, with Celtic interested in making a move for the former Manchester United man.

According to the Daily Mail, Brentford and West Bromwich Albion have joined the race to sign Pearson, with a potential move away in the offing this month.

Preston, if they cannot agree fresh terms with the midfielder, may look to cash in this month, rather than potentially lose him for nothing in the summer.

The Verdict

I'm a big fan of Pearson. I know he has been known for picking up a lot of cards in the past, but he seems to have matured.

His disciplinary issues shouldn't make people forget about how good if a player he is. He came through the ranks at Man United, so is clearly a very talented footballer.

To play for Brentford, you have to be very good with the ball at your feet, and he could be a shrewd addition for the Bees.
