Football League World will be at Griffin Park tonight as fifth-place Brentford host second-place Leeds United in what looks like it could be a huge moment in the race for automatic promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were beaten 2-0 by fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest on the weekend, meaning their cushion over the play-off spots is now just goal difference.

Brentford's 3-2 win against Middlesbrough means they're now just two points back from Leeds and would leapfrog them in the table with a win.

The Whites have won just once in 2020 and have suffered defeat in four of their last five Championship games.

On top of that, they travel down to London, which has not been a happy hunting ground for the Yorkshire club in recent years.

In fact, Leeds have not won in the nation's capital since December 2017–a record they will no doubt be desperate to put right this evening with the rest of the top six breathing down their necks.

They face a tough task against a Brentford side that have made Griffin Park something of a fortress in its farewell season–losing just three of their 15 league games at the ground.

With that in mind, a win for Bielsa's side would be a huge confidence boost and could help them kick-start a promotion push that is threatening to fade away once again.

A victory for Thomas Frank's side would be a real statement of intent and would surely cement their place as one of the frontrunners for automatic promotion.

The Bees will be hoping that their dangerous front three–Said Benrahma (eight goals and five assists), Bryan Mbeumbo (12 goals and five assists), and Ollie Watkins (20 goals and three assists)–can have some joy against a Leeds defensive line that hasn't kept a clean sheet since the 10th of December.

The return of defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who has missed the last three games due to a suspension, could prove a vital boost to the Whites' hopes as he has been an integral part of the way the side have played under Bielsa.

Pontus Jansson has not featured for the Bees since early January and looks likely to miss out on his chance to face his former side due to injury.

However, Brentford will likely still be confident in the resolve of their defensive unit, who have the best record in the division this season.

Patrick Bamford's goalscoring struggles have continued in recent weeks, so you feel we may see a league debut for January signing Jean-Kevin Augustin but that seems likely to be from the bench given Bielsa's recent comments.

This evening's clash looks as if it could be a massive moment in both side's season's but whatever the result, this one looks a mouthwatering meeting between two of the Championship's top sides.
