Brentford winger Sergi Canos has shared an encouraging update as he continues his return from the serious knee injury he suffered earlier this campaign.

Canos has been out of action his sustaining the injury during the Bees' defeat to Nottingham Forest back in October, with this being a significant blow for the West London outfit after Canos started all 11 of their opening league matches this term.

However, Thomas Frank's side have managed to cope well with Canos' absence as they have now won six of their last eight league matches, including an emphatic 7-0 demolition of Luton at Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon.

The West London outfit will still be hoping to have Canos back to help their likely play-off push this campaign, but there has not yet been a time frame put on the Spaniard's eventual return given the severity of the injury setback.

Canos joined the Bees from Norwich on a permanent basis in January 2017, and he has now made a total of 149 appearances across his two spells with the club, which has seen him score 23 goals and register 21 assists in the process.

The Verdict

Canos has been an integral figure ever since his return to Griffin Park in January 2017, but the Bees have still managed to excel in his absence with the likes of Said Benrahma, Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins forming a lethal attacking unit.

Brentford will now be looking to launch a promotion push following their impressive run of form of late, but it remains hugely disappointing that Canos cannot play a part in this given the obvious quality he can offer from the flanks.

The good news for Brentford is that Canos is still a young player at 22, and the fact he has only just signed a new contract with the club means he can still have an extremely bright future at Griffin Park.
