Brentford reportedly set to make move for prolific 23-y/o

Brentford have turned their attentions to Peterborough striker Ivan Toney following a frustrating transfer window according to West London Sport.

The Bees have failed with moves for Slovenia forward Robert Bozenik and Arsenal’s highly-rated youngster Folarin Balogun.

Now, Brentford are seemingly turning their attentions to one of League One’s best players as they look to try and secure that all-important promotion to the Premier League.

Toney has been in scintillating form so far this season and has managed to net 19 goals in the current campaign.

The 23-year-old has a long future ahead of him and must make sure that his next move is right for him having struggled after moving to Newcastle as a youngster.

Bristol City are also reportedly interested in the prolific forward, as sides in contention for promotion start looking for the key ingredient that could take them into the top division.

The Verdict

Toney would be a great signing for any Championship side in January, and with the form that he’s in it is no surprise that he’s high on everybody’s wish list.

The Bees have an excellent record at buying lesser-known players for cheap value and then selling them on for more, but it looks like they’re willing to break the bank in order to land the 23-year-old.

He’s the type of signing that will give the club an even bigger boost, as supporters would know that he could be the man to take them to the Premier League.

With Bristol City reportedly interested as well, it looks like it’s going to be an interesting week ahead to see if Toney does end up leaving Peterborough.
