Brentford set to drop interest in League 1 starlet after two failed bids

Brentford are reportedly set to drop their interest in Ben Stevenson and look at alternative midfield options, according to Get West London.

Coventry City rejected Brentford’s second bid for their star youngster Ben Stevenson and the Bees are not prepared to make a third offer.

It is believed that Brentford’s second unsuccessful bid was in the region of £1.5m with the Sky Blues holding out for at least £2.5m for the teenage sensation.

Ben Stevenson is a central midfielder with attacking and defensive capabilities.

The 19-year-old only made his first team debut this season but he has shown maturity beyond his years and is standing out in the Coventry midfield.

The academy product has been a rare shining light in a dire campaign for Coventry, who sit bottom of League One and will see this news as a major boost.

Stevenson has scored two goals, both of which were long-range stunners at the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry fans – how big a boost is this? Can you keep Stevenson beyond January?

Brentford fans – are you disappointed by this news? Who else could you sign?
