Brentford FC are closing in on the signing of Kamohelo Mokotjo, according to reports in Netherlands.

Dutch media outlet Tubantia is reporting that FC Twente midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo will be playing his football for Brentford next season.

The defensive midfielder is currently in London as he finalises the terms of his contract and completes the move.

Brentford are bringing in Kamohelo Mokotjo to bolster their midfield options.

The South African international is renowned as a tough-tackling midfielder who likes to sit deep in midfield but can burst forward too with energetic displays.

According to another report coming from South Africa, Brentford have been long-term admirers of Mokotjo but have not been able to obtain him due to work permit issues.

However, the 26-year-old has now acquired a Dutch passport having been in the country since 2009, when he left SunSport United to join Feyenoord.

After a loan spell at Excelsior, Mokotjo moved to PEC Zwolle in 2013, where he spent one season before joining FC Twente in 2014.

After three seasons with the Dutch Eredivisie side, Mokotjo is now on the verge of completing his move to England with Brentford.

The Bees will expect the 5ft 7in midfielder to compete with the likes of Nico Yennaris and Ryan Woods for a starting spot in the defensive midfield ranks.

Brentford have already signed Luke Daniels, Henrik Dalsgaard, Marcus Forss, Theo Archibald, Ali Coote and Nikolaj Kirk this summer.
