Football Insider reports that Brentford are set to make a move for NEC Nijmegen attacker Jonathan Otika in the coming weeks.

The Belgian attacker, who was born in Germany, has managed six goals and six assists in the current campaign and would be able to play anywhere in the Bees frontline due to his versatility going forward.

He is just 24-years-old so would fit the youthful squad that this Brentford side currently has. Thomas Frank will be seeing him as good competition for the front three spots, as well as cover if any of Said Benrahma, Bryan Mbuemo or Ollie Watkins were to get injured.

The Bees have surprised quite a few sides so far this season with how well they've played in the division. They sit in 3rd place, just six points behind automatic-promotion and the team as a whole are in great form.

The Verdict

It would be another shrewd piece of business from Brentford if they can get in Okita before the end of the month. He would be the perfect man to provide fierce competition to the front three ahead of the crucial run-in.

If one of the front three did get injured, the Bees have to make sure that there is someone up to the required standard waiting in the wings to ensure that they don't miss out on a great opportunity to be promoted.

One would assume that the player would be open to a move to England, purely based on the fact that he may well have an opportunity at playing Premier League football next season.
