Brentford’s Ryan Woods is hoping Saturday’s 5-1 FA Cup win over Eastleigh will inspire his side to a play-off push in 2017, reports Get West London.
Woods completed 90-minutes, in his 25th appearance of the season, as the Bees breezed past their non-league opposition.
Midfielder Woods was clear he believed his side can push up the table.
The London outfit have won their first two games of 2017, with high-flying Newcastle United up next.
The Bees haven’t lost since before Christmas, a 1-0 defeat to Leeds, and the 23-year old expressed they were “playing with confidence” as they look to cut the gap to the play-off places.
Brentford are currently 11 points behind sixth place Sheffield Wednesday, but their recent form suggests they could make a surge for the play-offs in 2017.
One thing that could de-rail a play-off push would be the sale of top scorer Scott Hogan.
Hogan, who has 14-goals this season, has been subject to bids during the January transfer window, with West Ham United preparing a third bid for the striker.
