Brentford winger Said Benrahma has claimed he is happy and focused at Brentford amidst reports linking him with a move to the Premier League. 

Benrahma has been fantastic for the Bees this season–scoring eight times and contributing five assists.

The 24-year-old found the net on Saturday as his side beat Middlesbrough 3-2 at Griffin Park to go within two points of the automatic promotion places.

According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle United had a representative at the game to watch Brentford's front three, with a particular interest in Benrahma.

The Algerian has been the target of lots of interest from Premier League sides in the past 12 months, with Arsenal, Leicester City, and Newcastle all thought to be keen.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Benrahma addressed his future and revealed that it is his dream to play in the Premier League.

He said: "For the moment I am focused on Brentford. This summer I will see but for the moment I am so focused here.

"I am happy, I play, I score, I win, it's a good position so I am happy. For the moment I am here."

He added: "My ambition is to play in the Premier League. That's my first ambition. It's the first step and then continue to progress."

Brentford welcome Leeds United to Griffin Park tomorrow evening, knowing that a win could see them leapfrog the Whites in the table.

Thomas Frank's side are fifth as things stand and look like one of the frontrunners to achieve at least a play-off finish this season.

The Verdict

Brentford fans will no doubt appreciate Benrahma's commitment to the club and his claim that he is completely focused on the run-in, however, these comments do suggest that he could leave the club this summer.

It seems that Benrahma is determined to play in the Premier League as soon as possible, whether that is with or without Brentford.

The 24-year-old has been fantastic for them over the past few seasons and deserves a chance to prove himself at the top of the English game.

Brentford fans will no doubt hoping that he does that in the red and white stripes of the West London side.
