Journalist Alan Nixon is reporting that Championship outfit Brentford are leading the race to the signature of exciting Chesterfield winger Gboly Ariyibi, who has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the course of the summer.
Despite the claim that Brentford are leading the race, there is still plenty of other runners in contention with reports that Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are also interested in the 21-year-old.
Ariyibi is clearly a player of great potential which has been recognised by the American national soccer team, for whom he has earned caps at under-20 and under-23 level.
The former Southampton trainee is currently playing his club football in League One with Chesterfield, where he has been since 2014.
Throughout his time at the Proact Stadium, he has made 65 senior appearances for the club scoring 4 goals in the process.
He has been a regular in Chesterfield’s solid start in League One this season having already racked up five appearances in all competitions.
