Pontus Jansson has recently spoken to foreign press in his native country Sweden and stated that Brentford will carry on playing as a team as that is their strength.

The Bees have had a rather successful first part of the season, and are looking back to their best after what had been somewhat of a sloppy start under Thomas Frank.

Brentford then put together a good run of victories, including a 3-1 win away at rivals QPR which has helped propel them into the top-half as they go in search of a play-off place.

One man who has changed the club's fortunes around this season is defender Pontus Jansson. The Swedish international signed from Championship rivals Leeds United in the summer, in a move which came around as a surprise to many.

The centre-back has been very good so far, and has installed something that the Bees didn't have and that is defensive resilience. There have been periods in matches this season that Brentford have managed to get through defensively which they hadn't been able to in the last couple of campaigns.

The fans have liked his passion and no nonsense statements and it gives them renewed hope that maybe this season can be something quite special.

What Frank has done so well at Brentford is he's given the player responsibility and you can see that in his latest comments. He knows now that it's up to the team and how they play together as well as the morale, whereas at Leeds you had the taste that he didn't quite understand that.

Jansson's determined approach has given them a much stronger spine and the Brentford fans will hoping to see more of the same and gain some more inconsistency, especially in front of their own fans.

A disappointing loss to Huddersfield, was backed up with a 3-0 victory away from home at Wigan and that sums up the one reason why that may not get into that top six. If they can take away some of the inconsistent results against the lower sides then the Bees will have a side that has the ability to hurt anyone in the Championship.

Supporters will be intrigued to see what happens when they face Reading after the international break in what is set to be an interesting tie against the inform Berkshire outfit.
