For Brentford, it has been an exciting few weeks, with pre-season's hopes of a promotion challenge seemingly starting to come to fruition following a tricky start to the campaign.

Three wins in a row against  Millwall, Swansea and local rivals Queens Park Rangers inspired confidence that this group of players could in fact go on to fulfill expectations.

A busy summer saw expectations rise significantly.

Despite losing the likes of Neal Maupay and Ezri Konsa, the money garnered from it went towards a host of exciting recruits including Pontus Jansson, Bryan Mbeumo, Ethan Pinnock, David Raya and Josh Dasilva.

And considering they managed to retain the services of Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins, you can understand why hopes were so high.

However, on Saturday they were brought crashing back down to earth when Huddersfield town took all three points from Griffin Park in a narrow 1-0 victory, with Karlan Grant's side settling things in West London.

It will have been a bit of a bitter pill for many Brentford fans to swallow following their recent successes, especially their failure to find the back of the net.

Given their slow start to the season, the Terriers will have been one of the teams that a three-point haul will have been expected from, so to take nothing will certainly grate.

It is a defeat that leaves them in 13th place and four points behind the play-off places, even though a win against Danny Cowley's men will have seen them rise into the top-six.

However, some perspective is needed from the fans here.

There was plenty of frustration visible on line after the defeat but the fact of the matter is that Huddersfield are a team on the rise, and they will pull off shock results like this.

Yes, Brentford should have won and most definitely should have found the back of the net. But with just four points still seperating them from the top-six, now is not the time to get dispondent.
