On Monday night, Brentford took on QPR at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium and the visitors won 3-1 thanks to an Ollie Watkins brace and a Said Benrahma penalty, Grant Hall replying for the hosts.

One controversial incident from the game was when Bryan Mbeumo was fouled by Josh Scowen in the box, however the replay appeared to show that Mbeumo had dived and outrage erupted on social media as Benrahma dispatched the resulting penalty.

Brentford fans will rightly be disappointed with Mbeumo for diving inside the box in a comical way, conning the referee at the same time, but at the same time a section of their support will be feeling relieved that the dive wasn't picked up by the referee Andy Woolmer.

Some of the Bees supporters will not be too happy with their young winger as it brings the individual game into disrepute and was uncalled for when the likelihood is Mbeumo goes past Scowen by staying on his feet and either gets tripped for an actual penalty or gets a shot off on goal.

By diving, the 20 year-old winger risked getting a yellow card himself and was lucky to get away with his bit of play-acting, the referee instead choosing  the wrong decision by pointing straight for the spot without conferring with his linesman who would have been stood less than 20 yards away from the decision.

On the plus side, other Brentford fans will be happy to have seen Mbeumo risk the yellow card for simulation and go tumbling to the floor, as it gave Benrahma the chance to convert from the penalty spot and give the Bees the lead back.

The young French winger's decision to go to ground was up to the player and the player alone, with the referee then having to make the split second decision of pointing to the spot.

The winger fancied his team's chances more from the spot than he did from open play as he was the one who reached the loose ball inside the box more, and threw himself into the limelight the moment that he threw himself to the ground.

Some Brentford supporters will be disappointed with Mbeumo, others will be happy at the winger's decision.
