Brentford face stalemate with influential defender as new contract offer is rejected

Brentford central defender Andreas Bjelland looks increasingly likely to depart Griffin Park during the summer months after Sky Sports confirmed that the influential player had rejected another chance to stay at the club longer than the current campaign.

The Danish player appears to be holding out hope of securing a move to the Premier League this summer which doesn’t bode well for the Bees who face losing one of their star performers.

According to Sky Sports, the player is attracting top flight interest whilst clubs in the Bundesliga are also monitoring the situation.

The Bees saw their hopes of a Championship play-off place extinguish in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Barnsley and boss Dean Smith will be keen to add to his squad during the summer to ensure a better assault on the top six next season.

Bjelland leaving on a free transfer will be disappointing for the club and boss Smith will naturally want to replace his primary central defender before the next campaign gets underway.

Brentford fans, is this news disappointing? Who would you like to see replace the departing Bjelland this summer? Let us know in the comments below!!!
