Josh Dasilva is making progress as he recovers from a hip injury, however the Brentford man is going to miss the play-offs.

A run of one win in seven games has seen the Bees slip down to fifth in the Championship, and whilst automatic promotion is still mathematically possible, the reality is that Thomas Frank’s men will be preparing for the play-offs already.

And, there was bad news ahead of that crucial period, with Frank confirming to West London Sport that Dasilva isn’t going to be fit to feature in these games, as he also gave an update on Rico Henry and Henrik Dalsgaard.

We need to see in terms of how they are in terms of the play-offs, both for Rico and for Henrik. Josh is a longer one. Josh is out for the season.”

Dasilva has been missed recently for the Londoners since he went off against Stoke City back in February. The 22-year-old had scored five goals and registered four assists, as well as impressing with his overall ability on the ball in the middle of the park.

The verdict

Brentford have only won two of their last nine games without Dasilva, and that’s no coincidence. The midfielder is a top quality player at this level and integral to the way the Bees play.

But, there’s nothing that Frank or anyone else can do, so it’s now down to others to step up and to make their mark on the huge upcoming games.

Nevertheless, there’s no denying that whoever comes up against Brentford in the play-offs will be glad that Dasilva isn’t in the XI.
