Brentford have announced that five senior players will be leaving the club in the summer when their contracts expire, including the in-demand Yoann Barbet.

The French defender, who is reportedly interesting recently promoted Norwich City, will not be staying at Griffin Park after a new deal could not be reached.

As well as that, keeper Jack Bonham, defender Moses Odubajo and midfield pair Lewis Macleod and Josh McEachran will leave as Thomas Frank looks to make his own mark on the squad this summer.

And, the boss wished the players well as he confirmed their departures to the official site.

"It is always sad when players leave at the end of a season. The group has worked exceptionally hard over the past ten-and-a-half months and everyone has contributed to us achieving a fifth consecutive top half finish in the Championship.

"I would like to thank each of them for their efforts."

It promises to be a very busy summer for the London club as they look to replace those who have left and try to hold on to several key players, including top scorer Neal Maupay.

The Verdict

You can't imagine the fans will be too happy with these decisions, particularly Odubajo who is a favourite among supporters and fills in across various positions.

Barbet's departure has seemed inevitable for a while and the midfield pair just don't play enough games to warrant new deals.

The challenge for the recruitment team is to replace those with quality though, although that hasn't been a problem for the Bees in the past so it could be an exciting few months for the club.
