Brentford closing in on deal for international creative midfield star

It has been reported on TeamTalk that Walsall star Romaine Sawyers is having a medical at championship club Brentford.

Sawyers – who has been at Walsall for three years, has made 133 appearances for The Saddlers, scoring 16 goals and asserting himself as one of the most vital players at the club.

Walsall came extremely close to getting promotion from Sky Bet League One last term, tailing Burton Albion to the final day for automatic promotion and getting pipped in the Semi Finals of the play offs by Barnsley, who would go on to be promoted. Sawyers was a massive part of this wonderful league campaign, making 46 appearances (missing only two games) scoring 7 goals and making 13 assists.

On the other hand, Brentford are in dire need of an attacking midfielder with the talent of Sawyers, due to the bad injury sustained by star Alan Judge. Therefore, Sawyers could be an incredibly shrewd signing for the Bees.

Sawyers, who has made 16 appearances for National team St Kitts and Nevis, is only contracted at Banks’s Stadium until the end of June, so will join the Bees for free.

So… Walsall and Brentford fans, what’s your opinion on this transfer development? Leave thoughts and opinions below!
