Crystal Palace will look to make a move for Brentford striker Neal Maupay as well as his teammate Ollie Watkins, according to a report from the Express.

Palace had a bid rejected for Watkins earlier in the week, but will revisit that interest, as well as making a move for goalscoring Maupay.

Maupay, who fired in an impressive 28 goals in all competitions last season, has been a wanted man all summer long with the likes of Sheffield United and Aston Villa both credited with an interest in the Frenchman throughout the summer.

However, it now looks like it could be Palace who win the race to land Maupay, who will no doubt be desperate to make the step up into the Premier League after proving himself at Championship level over the last couple of seasons.

Palace are looking to add some more firepower to their ranks before the end of the transfer window after seeing Christian Benteke struggle to get back to his best form at Selhurst Park, and manager Roy Hodgson will have no doubt looked on with admiration at Maupay's goalscoring feats.

Maupay moved to Brentford from Nice back in 2017 and would become the latest in a long line of players to move away from the club in expensive deals should he seal a move to Selhurst Park.

The Verdict

Palace seem to be going all guns blazing here with their interest in both Watkins and Maupay, and there's little doubt both players can cut it at Premier League level.

Maupay in particular looks to have all the tools and ability to become a top start in the top flight, and if he can replicate his goal tally from last year, Palace could well fly.

Brentford will no doubt lament the loss of both players, but money does often talk, and this will be the case with this deal you would imagine.
