According to Get West London, Dean Smith has revealed his transfer policy for the summer.
Brentford FC manager Dean Smith will prioritise a move for a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window as the Bees look to build on an inconsistent 2016/17 campaign.
Brentford lost main striker Scott Hogan to Aston Villa on January transfer deadline day and did not manage to secure a replacement.
Lasse Vibe stepped forward and has exceeded all expectations so far, notching 14 league goals to take his tally to level with Hogan for Brentford and one behind Hogan in the Championship.
However, Smith is lacking options and depth up front with Philipp Hofmann the only other senior alternative and 19-year-old B team striker Justin Shaibu the next option.
Therefore, the Brentford gaffer is targeting a move for a striker this summer ahead of strengthening elsewhere because an injury could really hold the Bees back.
“The priority would be a striker.
“We’ve got Lasse Vibe and Philipp Hofmann at the moment.
“Lasse has been on fire at the moment and long may that continue.
“We need someone else to go and challenge there.”
