It has been confirmed by the EFL that Bolton Wanderers' postponed match against Brentford will not be rearranged, and the Bees will be awarded the win.

This comes after the original fixture was not played due to Bolton players being on strike over unpaid wages for the month of April.

Bolton's Safety Advisory Group have also issued a prohibition notice to prevent the rearranged fixture from taking place, with there being doubts the club was able to guarantee the ground's general safety certificate.

The Trotters have had an extremely difficult season marred by financial difficulty, with this news coming the day after it was confirmed by the club that Laurence Bassini's proposed takeover of the club was off.

With it now being confirmed that Brentford will be awarded the 1-0 victory over Bolton, Bees manager Thomas Frank has offered his verdict of the decision.

"It is a good decision and I am pleased with the decision," he said in his press conference.

"First and foremost, I feel sorry for the Bolton staff, fans and players because they are in a mess and it is not nice to be in a situation like that.

"I hope, deep down, that they can turn it around and come out on the other side."

The verdict means both sides now only have one more fixture left to fulfil this season, with Brentford hosting Preston and Bolton travelling to Nottingham Forest.

The Verdict

Few people were in disagreement with the decision of Bolton players to boycott this fixture.

Frank's comments make a lot of sense, as there would have been little point in now playing the match with very little at stake for either side.

It is the correct decision, and I think Frank speaks for everyone when he hopes Bolton can turn their current predicament around.
