The 26-year-old made 29 appearances for the Eredivisie club last season and has played 65 times in total since joining them in 2012.

Bjelland, is primarily a centre-back but is also comfortable when operating in a full-back slot if needed to do so.

He has 21 caps for the Denmark national team and has also scored two goals during his time in international football.

Bees head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen will know the player well from his time at Excelsior and the Dane featured for FC Twente in their 3-1 loss to Dijkuizen’s side back in February.

The Bees will face stiff competition for the player’s signature with club’s in England and France expected to be interested in the player should he have a desire to leave Holland.
