Brentford are reportedly battling to sign 19-year-old Red Star winger Said Arab, with the teenager set to become a free agent this summer.

The Bees have had some luck bringing in forwards from the French leagues in the past few years, with Neal Maupay, Said Benrahma, and Bryan Mbeumo all having arrived in West London via that route.

It appears the Championship club feel they may have discovered another gem as, according to French outlet Le 10 Sport, they're interested in snapping up Arab when he becomes a free agent this summer.

The 19-year-old's current contract with French third tier side Red Star is set to expire this summer and it is understood there are a raft of sides keen on signing him when it does.

According to Le 10 Sport, Saint-Etienne, Lorient, and Strasbourg are all keen on securing the Algerian winger's signature and face competition from several English clubs, including Brentford.

The report claims that Saint-Etienne are close to completing the signing of Arab but that the Bees could be an attractive option given the success of Maupay and Benrahma.

The teenager, who turns 20 in July, has made 15 appearances in total for Red Star – scoring once and providing two assists.

The Verdict

Brentford have signed some fantastic young attacking talent from France in recent years, so it is no surprise to see them linked with this in-demand 19-year-old.

It appears the Bees could have their work cut out for them but the progress that the likes of Maupay, Benrahma and Mbeumo have made at the club will surely make a move to West London hugely attractive.

With Benrahma and Ollie Watkins having been linked with moves away, Thomas Frank may feel that the 19-year-old could follow in the footsteps of Mbeumo, who has been a useful weapon in his first season at the club.
