Brentford had a solid season last time out, but they need to make additions to take them that extra step forward and secure a play-off place.

Dean Smith's side finished a solid ninth in the Championship last season, and Bees fans will view that as a good season.

However, the Griffin Park outfit are capable of having an even better season with a couple of smart additions.

The West Londoners are currently being linked with Said Benrahma from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

Benrahma scored nine goals and registered five assists in 31 Ligue 2 appearances for Châteauroux last season.

He joined the second tier French club on loan from OGC Nice last summer and performed to a standard to earn attention from Brentford.

The 22-year-old attacker looks an exciting player, not Championship proven, but someone who could prove a real handful to defences next season.

He will add support to what already looks a dangerous Brentford attack, with Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay both young and hungry to make a name for themselves.

They also have creative midfield talents such as Alan Judge, Romaine Sawyers and Florian Jozefzoon to name a few.

There is a case that Brentford could do with solidifying the defence.

An experienced Championship centre back who can command his defence is a must for Smith in a relatively inexperienced squad.

More strength in depth in the goal is also needed, in case Daniel Bentley suffers an injury in the coming season.

Genuine pace on the wing would also help the Bees, if they could get a pinpoint crosser of the ball into the club it would do wonders for the West Londoners.
