Millwall striker Simeon Jackson has today been heavily linked with both Brentford and former employer Gillingham, with both clubs looking to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.

The Canadian striker is out-of-contract with the Lions this summer with two goals in fourteen appearances not proving enough for boss Ian Holloway who managed to keep the East London side afloat on the final day.

A return to Priestfield would see Jackson back at the club that introduced his name to English football, scoring thirty five goals for the Gills between 2008 and 2010. He sealed promotion with the Kent club before moving to Norwich City.

His spell with the Canaries was less prolific however and he arrived at Millwall in February of this year after a goal-less few months at Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany.

Gillingham boss Peter Taylor has suggested that such a move is unlikely, indicating that the Gills would probably be priced out of a move. "He's a player I have liked for a long time, he did well here and we're very interested" he told Kent Online. "He's probably a little steep on the wages though".

A move to Brentford seems more likely then, with Mark Warburton looking to assemble a squad capable of battling bravely against Championship relegation.

The Bees released four players following promotion, one being striker Farid El Alagui with ex-Rushden and Diamonds man Jackson seemingly Warburton's ideal replacement.

However, Championship success, and arguably the likelihood of this move occurring is dependent on the future of Clayton Donaldson. The highly-rated thirty-year-old's contract is set to expire in June but talks between sporting director Frank McParland and the striker's advisers are at an advanced stage.
