Brentford host Bristol City in the Championship tomorrow night, and Bees man Mathias Jansen is hopeful of another strong performance from his team.

Thomas Frank’s Brentford have had a relatively underwhelming season so far. His team lie 14th in the Championship, six places behind tomorrow's opposition from Bristol in 8th.

But a 3-1 win at Barnsley last weekend has put Brentford back on track, and Bees man Mathias Jansen was impressed with his side's performance.

He told the official club website:

"It’s positive that we create these chances, and hopefully we will create a lot on Wednesday again. We haven't won the games that we wanted to, but I think we’ve performed better than the points we have."

Lee Johnson’s Bristol haven’t won at Griffin Park since 2009, with two home wins and three draws since. But Griffin Park hasn’t been the fortress that Frank would’ve been hoping it would be this season - Brentford have won just one of five home games this season in all competitions.

After losing out in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Preston on Saturday, Bristol City’s three-game winning streak away from home came to a halt, but the Robins remain second in the Championship’s away table.

The verdict

After some suspect form last month, Brentford were able to finish it with a solid win at lowly Barnsley. It’ll put them in good stead going into what will be another tough match against City and another tough month in the Championship. Frank's team will have to be at their very best to get anything from the game against Bristol.
