Brennan Johnson has made an excellent start to the season for Nottingham Forest, and even with the Midlands club struggling at the start of the campaign, he was still a bright spark.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United are tracking the 20-year-old's progress at present ahead of a potential move in January.

Johnson has featured in every Forest game this season and has been included from the very start in all but one of those clashes.

The exciting attacker has three goals and three assists already to his name this season, with Johnson proving to be a real creative outlet for Forest to have at their disposal.

What do we know so far?

Johnson is an exciting talent, and he displayed that last year with Lincoln City by scoring 10 and assisting a further 12 in League One.

Even before he cemented himself as a regular in the Championship, Brentford expressed an interest in the young winger.

With Leeds not firing like they did last season, it appears that Johnson has emerged as a target to address their struggles in England's top tier.

Given Brentford's rejected attempts to sign the exciting winger, and the fact that he has now gone on to star in the Championship, it will be no surprise to see Forest demand an eight-figure fee.

Is a transfer likely to happen?

Johnson is certainly a player who would improve the Premier League outfit, as he is a relentless worker out of possession, who possesses buckets of quality in the final third.

His speed and athleticism also make him a player who is devastating on the counter-attack.

A move for the young talent will almost solely come down to finances. It remains to be seen how highly Forest value him at, whilst it will also be interesting to see how high Leeds will be willing to go.

It will be no surprise to see Brentford reignite their interest in January, whilst it will equally be no shock if other Premier League clubs come looking.
