Brennan Johnson and Alex Mighten react to 30-year-old’s Nottingham Forest Deadline Day move

It was a rather hectic deadline day at the City Ground for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds went into the final day of the window looking to make the final, last-gasp improvements to their squad, following a disappointing start to the season under Chris Hughton.

In the end, Forest ended up making three new signings, with Braian Ojeda, Mohamed Drager and Xande Silva joining on permanent deals.

The Reds are still awaiting to hear confirmation over the signing of Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence, too, which could potentially be announced today.

But there were also a few departures on the day, too, with Jordan Gabriel leaving for Blackpool on a permanent basis.

Elsewhere, Harry Arter joined Charlton on loan, and Nuno da Costa was sent on loan to French side SM Caen for the season.

Da Costa has been unable to make an impact at the City Ground under Chris Hughton, since returning from a loan spell in Belgium with Royal Excel Mouscron.

Da Costa has been struggling with injury, but will now look forward to a new challenge over in France as he took to Instagram to show off his new team’s colours.

Among those in the comments were Brennan Johnson and Alex Mighten, who were clearly a fan of Da Costa’s new strip.

The Verdict

Da Costa will be looking to prove a point over in France after struggling to impress at Forest.

In fairness, he looked sharp in pre-season and it looked as if he could have worked his way into Hughton’s plans.

But he hasn’t done enough to prove that, and his injury ruined any chance of him making a late revival.
